AVE MARIA, Fla. (October 22, 2022) – Florida National’s cross county team saved their best for the last regular season meet, having both the men’s and women’s teams finish in third place. The field was stacked with impressive competition including host Ave Maria, St. Thomas, Palm Beach Atlantic and Keiser. FNU’s last meet was on September 30 at the Florida Atlantic University Invitational in Boca Raton, Florida, where David Bellefleur finished first in the men’s 7k

FNU men’s team notables: David Bellefleur found himself in familiar territory, once again finishing with the fastest time in the men’s 8k at 27:15.1. Michael Kipchumba and Leon Kipkoech were the next highest finishers for the Conquistadors with times of 30:29.0 and 31:01.8, respectively.

FNU women’s team notables: Maryam Abreu was the fastest finisher on the women’s side for the Conquistadors with a time of 20:14.2 for a third-place finish. This was also a personal best for Abreu in this event. Hassell Zeledon’s time of 22:33.1 landed her in thirteenth place.

David Bellefleur’s time of 27:15.1 in the men’s 8k earned him a first place finish and, Maryam Abreu’s personal best time of 20:14.2 in the women’s 5k landed her in third place.
