SUMTER, SC. (Feb. 18, 2023) – Florida National University’s baseball team reigned supreme in Sumter, South Carolina, after sealing a series sweep over the Morris College Hornets. The Conquistadors (4-2) were able to squeak out a win over the Hornets (2-5) 10-8 Saturday and improve to 3-0 in Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) play. 

In game three, Gino Bellantoni had an epic performance with a team-high four runs and four hits. Adrian Roman followed closely behind with two hits including a double. Yordangel Gonzalez and Roberto Fernandez notched two runs apiece, as FNU’s pitching was able to close out the game for the visiting Conquistadors.

Lefty Bastyan Hernandez did a nice job from the mound committing no walks after five innings of play. Sair Sanchez closed out the final two innings of the game allowing just one hit.

This victory marks the first series sweep of the year and puts FNU just three wins shy of equalling 2022’s win total. FNU ended last year 7-40.
