HIALEAH, Fla. (May 22, 2023) – Florida National University’s softball team had three players headline the United States Collegiate Athletic Association’s (USCAA) All-American honorees. The two-time USCAA national champion Conquistadors had their selections announced at the Small College World Series Home Run Derby May 14 at Showers Field.

Yleisha Perez was the lone FNU player to earn a second-team nomination while Megen Johnson and Ana De Oliveira Obando received an honorable mention. Perez delivered a thrilling season racking up 17 RBIs and 50 hits. She led the team with a .394-hitting average with just 11 strikeouts on the year.

Johnson’s senior season was one to remember. The shortstop recorded 37 hits and 25 runs in 42 games played. With a .398 slugging percentage and four stolen bases, Johnson was an extremely versatile player on the field and helped lead FNU to a 22-21 season. 

De Oliveira Obando was calm and dependable in the outfield, delivering 66 putouts in 43 games. The junior lit up the batter’s box with 39 hits and 20 runs en route to an All-American honorable mention.
