HIALEAH, Fla. (Jan. 31, 2024) – Florida National University’s first competition in 2024 ended in a 2-0 loss with the University of South Florida White toppling the Conquistadors. Florida National entered Tuesday’s 8:45 p.m. match with an impressive Fall campaign where the Conquistadors went 6-2. Notably, FNU’s first female eSports student-athlete, Hillary Oliva, made her debut appearance.
Both rounds of play were around 25 minutes each. FNU did put together a handful of early-game kills from Caio Alves and Austin Phanitdasack and a Drake before falling short of a victory in match one. USF was able to out-maneuver the Conquistador’s attempts to force two-on-two fights, preventing Paul Perez and Phanitdasack from collecting any team kills or ganks. FNU’s confidence in their draft picks was a moot point, as they did not find the high damage output needed to win.
Up Next: FNU’s next eSports contest will be against Emory University Varsity 1 at a soon-to-be-determined date and time.
