HIALEAH, Fla. (March 25, 2024) – Florida National University’s men’s tennis team (1-8) fell short of a much-needed win over the NAIA’s No.12-ranked College of Coastal Georgia Mariners (5-3) at home on the courts of Goodlet Park. The Mariners posted an impressive and swift 4-1 win after two decisive victories in doubles play, followed by stellar performances from Lucas Landaluc, Aymeric Bruno and Felix Arroyo Viglino in singles play.
FNU’s dynamic duo of Guido Gentile and Alejandro Suarez were the only Conquistador pair to score a win in their respective matches, defeating Adrien Guye and Kevin Leuenberger 6-3. The Mariners secured the opening point thanks to losses from FNU’s Matteo Ruscassier and Ignacio Acosta, and Lennart Ostheimer and Luigi Stefanacci.
The singles portion of the competition saw Acosta, Gentile and Ruscassier put up valiant efforts before coming up short opposite their Coastal Georgia competitors. Suarez recorded the Conquistadors’ lone point of the afternoon, taking home a victory over CCG’s Leuenberger.
