The Respiratory Therapy program at Florida National University offers three different career paths to choose from:

1) The Associates of Science in Respiratory Therapy will enable graduates who pass the National Board for Respiratory Care Exams to earn the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) national credential and to work in field.

2) The Bachelors of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) offers graduates from a CoARC (Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care) accredited program the opportunity to further their career in the field by obtaining a higher degree. The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) and the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) aim at establishing the BSRT as the entry-level degree for Respiratory Therapists in the near future. Hence, it is advisable for all RRTs with an Associates of Science in Respiratory Therapy to prepare to meet the professional challenges of the future by earning a BSRT.

3) Finally, FNU also offers a bridge option for Certified Respiratory Therapists, CRTs, working in field and graduates from a CoARC accredited institution to earn their ASRT and prepare for the BSRT challenge.
