Florida National University (FNU) understands all too well how much of an investment a college education is. For international students, it’s even more of an expense. International students need to pay the extra expense of getting the necessary documents just to enter the United States (US), not to mention going through the enrollment process after they’ve conducted the arduous research process of finding the right university in the US to attend. This doesn’t count the stress of waiting in hopes that they’ll be accepted.

International students go through an extensive preliminary process to attend college in the US. Once they arrive on campus, they not only need to adapt to American culture and society as a whole, but also campus culture and develop a better understanding of the English language so that they can excel in their coursework and as a professional.

Financial Resources for International Students

FNU strives to do whatever we can to make our international students feel comfortable during their career with us as a college student. Alleviating any financial weight is usually a good start. As a Non-US Citizen, international students are not eligible to apply for federal student loans. This means that they have to rely on other resources that will help them pay for a college education in the US. Organizations like the National Association for Foreign Student Affairs (NAFSA), now NAFSA: Association of International Educators works towards advancing international education. How FNU Helps International Students with Financial Assistance

There are thousands of financial aid options for college students who are US citizens. Many of them exclude international students. This is why FNU has established a scholarship that is specifically designed for exchange students who have graduated from one of our English as a Second Language (ESL) certificate programs and interested in enrolling in either an associates or bachelor degree program. International students attending FNU might be eligible to receive 20% off their tuition!

This is a great opportunity for international students as these discounts can make up for the costs invested towards Student Visas and traveling expenses.

A Little More about FNU

FNU is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. This gives us the authority to award associate, bachelor and master’s degree. The types of degree programs offered through our educational institution are held to the highest standards. All of our degree programs are reviewed by surrounding regionally accredited universities. Any degree that is earned through a regionally accredited university will most likely be accepted at other colleges if you choose to transfer to another school for further studies.

In order to be considered for the discount, students will first need to undergo an interview with the ESL Division Head to determine which level within the ESL program to enroll in. All proper documentation will be required. The FNU Financial Aid Department will help you acquire these documents. Many of them will have already been attained during the original admission process.

NOTE: There are some degree programs that are excluded from the 20% discount. They are: Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, and Physical Therapist Assistant.
Keeping Up With the Scholarship!

Furthermore, it’s important that international students maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above in order to qualify for next year’s scholarship for future semesters.

It’s also important to note that the scholarship will not cover registration and application fees. What the international scholarship does not cover will be the student’s responsibility to pay in full. If he or she does not pay the remaining balance within 30 days, the scholarship will be forfeited.

FNU reserves the right to modify or terminate this and all scholarships at FNU’s sole discretion.

Which Degree Programs are Eligible for International Student 20% Discount?

While Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, and Physical Therapist Assistant programs cannot be discounted for international students, here are the following degree programs that can be:

One of the benefits to enrolling in a degree program at FNU as an international student is that you’ll have the opportunity to take online courses. Many international students find this quite helpful even while taking classes in the US because it provides more flexibility. With online courses, you have the freedom to take classes anywhere your laptop goes as long as you have an internet connection. This is great for international students who are attending college on an athletic scholarship. Even for students who aren’t into sports, online courses gives them the flexibility to take classes they might not have otherwise have had time to take.Take College Courses Online!
