Baseball Closes Out 2021 with 12-6 Loss at No. 12 St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (May 4, 2021) – The Florida National baseball team (11-27) closed out the 2021 season with a 12-6 loss at No. 12 St. Thomas (33-17) on Tuesday night.

Despite six runs on 11 hits, FNU could not keep the Bobcat bats quiet as STU overcame a five-run deficit to hand the Conquistadors the six-run loss.

FNU jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the third. After scoring a run in the top of the first, the Conquistadors added four runs in their half of the third when Joshua Smith drove in two on a single to right followed by RBI-singles by Raymond Mendez and Rafael Ferrara.

However, scored three runs in the bottom of the third, one in the bottom of the fourth, five in the bottom of the fifth and two in the bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Jan Carlos Rodriguez led FNU with two runs scored, batting 2-for-5 with one RBI off a solo shot in the top of the first. Daniel Rodriguez notched a team-high three hits, going 3-for-4 from the dish.

With the loss, FNU finishes the 2021 season with an 11-27 record
