LAKE WALES, Fla. (April 29, 2021) – The Florida National baseball team (11-26) dropped both game of a Thursday doubleheader at (rv) Warner on Thursday, falling 10-5 in Game One, and 8-4 in Game Two.

In Game One, Jan Carlos Rodriguez led FNU with a 2-for-3 performance from the plate, driving two runs and scoring another. In all, the Conquistadors scored five runs on five hits but it was eight walks by the FNU pitching staff which set up the Royals for the victory. Despite producing just six hits, the Royals scored 10 runs, handing FNU its fifth-straight loss.

In Game Two, the Conquistadors looked to change their fortunes, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Both runs were scored in a single up the middle by Carlos Cartaya.

After scoring a run in the bottom of the first, WU regained the lead with a four-run bottom of the fourth. The Royals used back-to-back home runs coupled with an FNU defensive error to take a 5-2 lead.

The Conquistadors did not give up, rallying in the top of the sixth as Rodriguez produced an RBI double and Manuel Blanco drove in another to cut the Royal’s lead to 5-4.

But it was the long ball that put the game out of reach as three more Warner runs were score on a pair of homers in the bottom of the sixth, leading to an 8-4 Conquistadors loss.

FNU will wrap up the 2021 regular season on Tuesday, May 4, versus the St. Thomas Bobcats. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. from Miami Gardens.
