Conquistadors lose sixth straight match. (April 12, 2024)

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 12, 2024) – Florida National University’s men’s tennis team (1-12) continues a six match slump, falling to the St. Thomas University Bobcats (1-8) on the road. This was the first win for STU this season and it was a close affair ending with the Bobcats on top 4-3. 

Doubles play was dominated by FNU, scoring wins from partners Guido Gentile and Alejandro Suarez and Sebastian Fujita and David Santamaria 6-4, 6-3, respectively. FNU duo Ignacio Acosta and Matteo Ruscassier left their match versus Julian Miehe and Moritz Kettner unfinished at 5-4.

Singles play saw STU’s Luis Yanine Dagach collect a 7-6, 6-3 win over Gentile. Ruscassier was the next Conquistador to fall short of a win, losing to Oliver Andersson 6-2, 6-3. Santamaria fell in his match to Jan Gewaltig 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Ignacio Acosta defeated Noah Castillo (6-3, 6-2)

Alejandro Suarez defeated Leon Emich (6-3, 6-1)

Luigi Stefanacci defeated Julian Miehe (7-6, 2-6, 6-1)

Matteo Ruscassier falls to Oliver Andersson (2-6, 3-6)

David Santamaria falls to Jan Gewaltig (6-4, 4-6, 4-6)
