LAKELAND, Fla. (March 30, 2024) – Florida National University’s women’s tennis team (3-9) was easily handled by the No. 3 Southeastern University Fire in Lakeland, Fla. FNU was shutout in a 4-0 loss, falling to 2-2 in Sun Conference play this season.
SEU took a 1-0 lead after doubles win from pairs Martina Picardi and Simone Simas and Irene Lopez and Maria Martinez. FNU duo Nadia Abad and Vanessa Simone were unable to finish a competitive match versus Irene Lopez and Maria Martinez with the first set tied at 4-4.
Single play saw FNU’s Karyna Krykunenko fall 6-1, 6-2 to Picardi while Natalia Calvo missed the mark versus Flaminia Guidantoni 6-1, 6-0. Simone posted a tough loss to Ingrid Montserrat 6-2, 6-3 as SEU collected its tenth win of the season.
