The purpose of the Institutional Consumer Information is to keep Florida National University’s community updated with information on student success, student population demographics, and financial aid. This office attempts to do this by ensuring that the Institutional Consumer Information is updated annually and posted on the university’s webpage.
The following information is intended for all of Florida National University’s stakeholders.
Student Privacy
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable U.S. Department of Education program. FERPA also gives parents certain rights concerning their children’s education records. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level. Financial Aid Information – General
The University encourages all students who wish to be considered for Financial Assistance to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students eligible to participate in the Federal Student Assistance programs should be aware of the FNU and Federal Financial Aid policies, procedures, and other requirements for eligibility and participation.
The University participates in the U.S. Department of Education’s Title IV Federal Student Assistance Programs and the State of Florida Scholarship and Grant Programs. Programs include:

- Federal Work-Study-Need Based

Students interested in any financial assistance at FNU should complete the FAFSA each year and provide the University with all requested supplemental documentation within four weeks upon request. Eligibility for Financial Assistance varies based on the type of aid provided. These respective entities regulate the Federal and State Financial assistance eligibility requirements with specifics found on their websites. Return of Title IV Funds
Student Financial Assistance Programs require the university to return Federal Funds for students who fail to meet certain requirements. The university outlines its return of Title IV Funds in the University Catalog. Students may reach out to the Financial Aid Office with additional questions.

Constitution Day Policy
Constitution Day Background – Senator Robert C. Byrd, a West Virginia Democrat and the United States Congress unofficial constitutional scholar, believes that American primary, secondary, and post-secondary students lack significant knowledge regarding the United States Constitution. In December 2004, Senator Byrd offered an amendment passed by both the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate to increase constitutional knowledge.
The legislation requires that all educational institutions that receive federal funds implement educational programs relating to the United States Constitution on September 17th of each year. September 17th was selected as the date for celebration because, on September 17th, 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the United States Constitution and present it to the American public. When the 17th falls on a weekend date, constitution Day will be held on the Friday before the 17th.
Florida National University observes this day in September as Congress intended.
The Florida National University library sponsors various educational activities to commemorate Constitution Day. A prominently displayed exhibit is created, which includes copies of the US Constitution, as well as books and other educational materials which serve to help students, faculty, staff, and our wider community, learn about and appreciate the US Constitution and its special place among the world’s great achievements. To commemorate Constitution Day, the library encourages the faculty and their students to participate in workshops that offer additional assistance in researching the US Constitution and its unique role in human history and culture and how to use books, databases, and other tools to accomplish this. Moreover, during these workshops, participants are encouraged and assisted in borrowing books and other materials to further this learning process. In this process, students and other members of the FNU community are also helped with obtaining the questions and answers for examinations related to US citizenship. They are helped better to understand the US Constitution and the rule of law it stimulates, in harmony with Florida National University’s mission statement as it supports our curriculum and provides a cultural service to our entire community.
