Florida National University Conquers No. 1 Florida College

Kenneth Santos

Hialeah, Fla. (Jan. 16, 2018) – Florida National University knocked off No.1 Florida College, 87-82 Wednesday night at Bucky Dent Gymnasium.

FNU was hot from the outset jumping out to a 15 to 2 lead early in the first quarter. The Falcons, however, nearly evened things up before the Conquistadors closed the first half 43 34.

FNU’s success early on relied heavily on the sharpshooting skills of Guard Kenneth Santos who finished the game with 20 points. Forward Terrence Johnson matched Santos in the box score adding 20 points of his own. The Conquistadors would play some of their best basketball in the closing minutes displaying both gritty defense and a potent offense. Leading to FNU’s eighth consecutive game without a loss.

With the season quickly coming to a close, a win over number one ranked Florida College couldn’t have come at a better time.

  • Kenneth Santos 5 of 10 from three-point range, 20 total points.
  • Terrence Johnson 7 for 12 from the floor, 20 total points.
  • Jessy Cantinol had 18 total points and 6 rebounds.
