FNU Baseball Defeats Trinity Baptist, 7-2

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 2, 2021) – The Florida National baseball team (11-20) opened its three-game weekend series at Trinity Baptist (6-15) with a 7-2 victory on Friday evening.

The Conquistadors drove in seven runs on 10 hits in the game led by leadoff hitter Jasiel Perez, who went 3-for-5, including a double with an RBI and a run scored. Perez was one of three batters, who registered multiple hits in the contest. Edgar Perez went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored while Rafael Ferrara hit 2-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI.

TBC held a 1-0 lead through five until Carlos Cartaya drove in two with single in the top of the sixth. The Conquistadors extended their lead in the top of the seventh, scoring three more runs to take a 5-1 lead.

FNU added two more runs in the top of the ninth and held the Eagles to just one run in the bottom of the ninth for the 7-2 win.

Ramses Gonzalez (2-0) earned the win, tossing eight innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on 11 hits and striking out eight Eagle batters.

FNU will continue its series with TBC on Saturday, April 3, with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
