Coach Alfredo Carrillo Batting the ballHialeah, Fla – Florida National University Baseball Head Coach Alfredo Carrillo is entering his 3rd season at the helm here at Florida National University. Coming off of a 15-36 season after a 13-29 1st season, the Conquistadors are looking to keep improving. The Conquistadors fell short of the USCAA World Series last season despite a tough schedule, they are definitely looking to get back this season. Last season FNU played a very tough schedule, playing 24 games against ranked opponents in the NAIA and NCAA II. They also played 15 games verses teams that moved on into the NAIA World Series. The season was definitely highlighted with victories against #16 Webber International University and defending NAIA National Champions #1 Southeastern University.

“In order to get better and build as a program, we need to play the best teams in the country. We will never shy away from tough compaction. Not as long as I’m here.” Coach Carrillo stated on the tough schedule they face.

This season Coach Carrillo is looking forward to a good season from his Conquistadors. “Staying Health and being able to limit our mistakes are key” Coach Carrillo on the upcoming season. “We have added key parts to our young roster but some of our veterans have to step up this year and lead the way”. With another tough schedule this season, FNU is definitely looking to make their way back to DuBois, PA to compete for a USCAA Title.

Prior to starting the program at Florida National University, Coach Carrillo was an assistant baseball coach at Webber International University. At Webber, Coach Carrillo was responsible for the infielders, recruiting, and the Head Coach for the developmental team. Coach Carrillo now resides in south Florida with his wife Katelyn Carrillo.
