HIALEAH, Fla. (March 12, 2024) – Florida National University’s women’s tennis team (2-7) bounced back from a shutout loss to Wayne State University on March 7 with a solid 4-3 win over Hillsdale College (3-9). The Conquistadors dropped all three doubles matches but secured four solid wins in singles play en route to their second victory this season on March 12.

Hillsdale’s doubles pairs were able to dominate all three courts, as Fabiola Bsereni and Natalia Calvo fell in their match to Megan Hackman and Melanie Zampardo 6-3. Ane Dannhauser and Courtney Rittel’s 6-2 victory over Nadia Abad and Vanessa Simone locked up the opening point in favor of the visitors. Karyna Krykunenko and Chiara Fiorenza were the final pair to come up short, losing Helana Formentin and Libby McGivern 6-2.

In singles play, FNU started shaky with losses from Krykunenko and Calvo 6-0, 6-1, and 6-1, 6-1, respectively. But FNU got back in the mix with Abad and Fiorenza winning important tiebreakers to secure much-needed points. Simone and Celeste Deniz Reyes each pulled off wins on their respective courts. HC had no answer for FNU, and the Conquistadors were victorious on the courts of Goodlet Park.
