Conquistador women’s tennis falls to the Wayne State Warriors 7-0.

HIALEAH, Fla. (March 10, 2023)For the fourth time this season Florida National University’s women’s tennis team suffered a shutout loss. The Wayne State University Warriors handed FNU a 7-0 defeat at Goodlet Park Friday afternoon to conquer its tenth win of 2023. This is the Conquistadors’ third-straight scoreless loss and marks the first home defeat for FNU this season.

In doubles play, the Warriors won the opening point off solid perfomacnes from Anais Ruyssen and Dea Gorgidze who defeated FNU duo Karyna Krykunenko and Pirada Suwanruk 6-3. Partners Paulina Jankuh and Emerald Cooke also fell short of the mark in their doubles match losing 1-6. The Warriors swept all three matches after Vanessa Simone and Simone Sierra were defeated 3-6.

Things didnt improve for FNU in the singles portion of the competition, as the Warriors played a steady and efficient game on every court to sweep the road win. Notably, Sierra won the lone set for the Conquistadors defeating Malak Arafat 6-1 in the opening game before falling in the next two by a score of 1-6.
