Men’s Soccer Handles Warner, 3-1

LAKE WALES, Fla. (March 27, 2021) – Looking to rebound from a tough 3-2 (2OT) loss at Southeastern on Wednesday, the Florida National men’s soccer team (5-2) traveled to Lake Wales, Florida, to take on Warner (3-13-1) on Saturday.

The trip proved to be a good one for the Conquistadors as FNU downed the Royals, 3-1.

FNU got on the board with a first-half goal Marcos Bakale in the 29th minute. The early first-half goal was set up by Blas Barrancos, who was credited with an assist on the score. The Conquistadors controlled much of the first half, allowing just one shot by the Royals in the first 45 minutes of action.

In the second half, Warner came out a little more aggressive. But a 56th minute score by Bautista Dominguez extended the FNU lead to 2-0. WU got on the board with a goal in the 59th minute. However, Barrancos added an insurance goal in the 79th minute as FNU won its fifth game of the year.

Victor Ruiz Lasso earned the win needing to make only one save to record the victory.

FNU out-shot the Royals 12-7 in the game, including a 5-3 edge in shots on goal.

The Conquistadors will next travel to Thomasville, Georgia, to take on the Thomas Night Hawks on Saturday, April 3. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
