Men’s Soccer team Gaining Momentum

After several close losses and a lot of ties, the Conquistador Men’s soccer team has put together two back to back wins versus USCAA opponents. On Saturday the Conquistadors concluded a road trip to Alabama in which they split with Concordia College losing the first game 2-1 in a defensive slugfest and winning the final game 1-0. In the final game of the road trip, Diogo Nanni scored the only goal of the match on a header that was assisted by Aday Gonzalez. The Conquistadors played smothering defense to keep the Hornets from scoring. Last night, in a game that featured inclement weather, the Conquistadors defeated Florida College 2-1. After losing to Florida College 1-0 in overtime earlier this season the Conquistadors got revenge. Renan Leite turned in a sparkling individual performance scoring the only two goals for the Conquistadors. The defense was good enough to turn away the Falcons scoring attempts. Goalie, Carlos Qeusada, who has been consistent all season finished with 5 saves to secure the win for the Conquistadors. “Our defense has been consistent all season long with the exception of a few games. That gives us a chance to stay in games, said Head Soccer coach Joao Garcia,” They improved their record to 3-3-5. The Conquistadors are preparing to take on National JUCO power, Eastern Florida State College, Friday September 18 at 7 pm in Melbourne Fl.
