NAIA releases 2024 Daktronics Track and Field Scholar-Athletes. (May 21, 2024)

HIALEAH, Fla. (May 21, 2024) – Five Florida National student-athletes were announced as 2024 Daktronics Track and Field Scholar-Athletes by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) on May 21. Three members of the men’s track team and two female track standouts make up this year’s Conquistador nominees.

Prisilla Gonzalez and Hassell Zeledon earned this honor along with men’s track and field Conquistadors Cristopher Carmenate, Leon Kipkoech and Michael Kipchumba.

“The 2024 list features 1203 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution,” said the NAIA’s release. “To be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.”

Men’s track and field tallied 873 scholar-athletes this year, with Milligan College having the highest number of honorees with 26.
