Florida National University (FNU) Conquistadors Guard/Forward Yves Goedschalk has been named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) All-Academic Team in the Inaugural season. Goedschalk has a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.92 in which he attests to a strong work ethic.

“I have always been told that hard work pays off especially on the academic side of things. My parents instilled a strong work ethic in me from a young age telling me that no matter what challenges I am facing, working hard is my best friend in my ability to overcome any obstacle,” said Goedschalk.

Overcoming obstacles is what Yves has done since arriving in Hialeah, FL prior to the Inaugural season. Goedschalk ranked 4th in USCAA Division 1 for rebounding, averaging an astonishing 10.5 RPG (Rebounds per Game) as an undersized 6’4’’ post player.

“It has been a pleasure coaching Yves this year. From a coaching perspective, he is the epitome of a student-athlete. I am excited to see Yves grow both on and off of the court throughout the next two years,” said Scott Schmidt, FNU’s Men’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director.

The Florida National University Conquistadors’ inaugural season was 2013 – 2014. They ended the season with overall record of 10 – 18. The Conquistadors are South Florida’s newest men’s college basketball team. The founding of the team marks FNU’s first step in forming an athletic department. The Conquistadors’ 2014 – 2015 is scheduled to resume in October.
