How to Get Your Respiratory Therapy Degree OnlineDistance learning has come a long way since the internet burst into widespread public use. Over the last 20 years, accredited universities have acknowledged the need to provide more flexibility and access to higher education. This evolution is simply a way of addressing the realities of an increasingly mobile population, more stringent training requirements for employment, and a population of students who already have life commitments outside of school.

Florida National University(FNU) is proud to be one of those institutions. Our university has been a staple in Southern Florida since 1982 with campuses in Miami and Hialeah. Our university is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission of Colleges to award associate, bachelor, and master degrees. We offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy and a range of additional degree programs that are designed to prepare students for rewarding careers that are in demand.

How Do Employers Feel About Online Degrees?

Due to improvements in the quality of the curriculum and advances in technology, online training is just as effective as attending a brick-and-mortar school. In fact, online studies may improve student outcomes by lowering the cost of education, providing flexibility, and narrowing focus. Even Ivy League schools now offer an online option for many of their programs in order to remain competitive. Today’s employers consider the quality and reputation of the institution awarding the degree rather than how it was conferred.

Getting an Online Respiratory Therapy Degree

The Respiratory Therapy program at FNU prepares students to receive a Bachelor of Science degree and enhances the credentials of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) graduates with current National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentials. Upon completion, you will have a well-rounded base of knowledge that can carry you into any realm of your chosen field from patient care to administrative positions. Best of all, you can complete the entire program online without missing a thing!

  • 18 credit hours of natural sciences studies
  • 38 credits in lower level courses

What to Look for in an Online University

According to recent statistics, over 86% of traditional colleges and universities offer at least some online classes, and more than 1/3 offer entire programs online. Clinical requirements can often be fulfilled locally in the student’s own community when required as part of graduation.

Because you’re usually not able to visit the campus or meet with instructors in person, finding a comprehensive online program can be challenging. You may be concerned about interaction with other students and professors, or wonder where to turn to for support. With our school, you won’t have to worry about any of that.

When searching for an online university, look for a school that’s regionally accredited, operates with transparency, and has a long history of success. All of this information is available on a university’s websites and platforms that rate institutes of higher education. You’ll find that FNU meets all of these standards and more. We even offer job placement assistance once you graduate.
