HIALEAH, Fla. (May 23, 2024) – Florida National University’s baseball team (24-30) had seven standout players named as 2024 Daktronics Baseball Scholar-Athletes by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The NAIA released its annual list of honorees on May 23 ahead of the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho May 24-31.

FNU’s Gino Bellantoni, Mario Benjamin, Jose Carpena, Evan Dalmau, Jordan Lewis, Jose Medina and Carlos Sanchez make up the Conquistadors on a list featuring 1,300 student-athletes from 165 teams. Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn., held the top spot with 22 selections. 

To be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale; appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, and have attended one full year at said institution,” said the NAIA’s release.
