MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 20, 2024) – Florida National University’s track and field teams had four school records and seven personal records posted at the St. Thomas University Open in Miami Gardens, Fla. The Conquistador men ended the meet 4th out of seven teams, while the women placed 6th out of eight.

Hurdler Joelle Baptiste set a personal and school record in the women’s 400M hurdles at 1:06.92. She also nearly bested a personal record in the women’s 200M dash, clocking in at 27.27. Christina Adams impressed in the 800M, scoring a personal and school record with a time of 2:24.64 to come in 5th. Notably, Miel Johnson threw a personal best in the javelin with a mark of 21.64M, while Prisilla Gonzalez had a season best time in the women’s 200M dash at 29.44.

On the men’s side of the action, FNU’s 4x100M relay team of Nicolas Aguado, Michael Carrasco Rodriguez, Trevor Moonin, Lucas Woodside now own a school record in the event with a time of 42.79. Two-time USCAA Track and Field Jumper of the Week, Ivan Rodriguez, earned a personal and school record in the men’s high jump at 1.98M. Lucas Woodside grabbed a season record in the 110M hurdles at 16.24 and Cristopher Carmenate scored season best in the 800M race, crossing the finish line 16th with a time of 2:14.89.

Mario Martinez, Nicolas Aguado and Trevor Moonin all recorded personal bests in the 400M dash, 100M dash and the javelin throw, respectively.
