HIALEAH, Fla. (May 9, 2024) – Florida National University’s baseball team (21-28) had two exceptional players claim spots in the 2024 Continental Athletic Conference Baseball All-Conference First Team. Four Conquistadors were also included as Second Team honorees after an impressive NAIA campaign for Florida National in 2024.
Following an All-Tournament performance at the CAC Baseball Championship Tournament, Jordan Lewis joined Gino Bellantoni as the only Conquistadors to land a First Team All-CAC nomination. Lewis posted a .377 average this season and was solid at the centerfield position with 97 putouts in 47 appearances. His base running was some of the best in the NAIA, with 40 stolen bases in 2024. Bellantoni was just as spectacular, playing all of FNU’s 49 games this season. The Boca Raton, Fla., native grabbed 53 hits and 33 RBIs en route to a .344 batting average.
Conquistadors relief pitcher Maylo Sierra was selected as a Second Team honoree after ending the 2024 season with a 2.31 ERA in 19 mound appearances. Catcher Adrian Roman and infielder Daniel Silgado also earned a second team nod, as Roman racked up six doubles and a .464 slugging percentage. Second baseman Silgado made the most of his 26 appearances this season with 39 hits and 33 RBIs.
Rounding out FNU’s nomination was third baseman Matthew Gonzalez. The Dominican infielder had 48 hits in 38 games for the Conquistadors.
