Women’s Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision at Webber International

BABSON PARK, Fla. (October 13, 2020) – The Florida National women’s soccer team (0-3-0) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Webber International Warriors (3-4-1) on Tuesday afternoon from Babson Park, Florida.

In a match that saw all of its scoring taking place in the first 45 minutes, FNU fell behind in the 36th minute as WIU’s Sophia Kenny tapped in a low cross from Charlee Lutton. The Conquistadors responded with a goal in the 41st minutes after Dominique Mosley netted her second score of the 2020 season. Mosely’s goal was set up by goalkeeper Vanessa Osorio, who sent a long pass to the native of Cutler Bay, Florida, past the Warrior backline. For her efforts, Osorio was credited with an assist on the play.

Despite having the momentum, FNU fell behind again in the 42nd minute after Kenny found the back of the net for the second time in the half.

The Conquistadors went into halftime down, 2-1.

In the second half, neither team was able to add to their score as the contest ended 2-1 in favor of WIU.

For the match, FNU registered 13 total shots with five on net. WIU posted 19 total shots and recorded 10 shots on goal.

Osorio was saddled with the loss, tallying eight saves in 90 minutes of action.

The Conquistadors will return to action on Wednesday, October 14, taking on the Keiser Seahawks. Game time from West Palm Beach, Florida, is set for 1:00 p.m.
